How the signal works

A practical early-warning layer for bridge owners.

BridgeRiskIQ does not estimate flow at the bridge. It watches the best available nearby gauge and records when the owner-defined inspection threshold is reached.

01

Match the gauge

Compare the nearest USGS gauges using distance and watershed-area similarity, then retain the best available association.

02

Watch the threshold

High-risk bridges use the 10-year event, Medium the 25-year event, and Low the 50-year event. Stable bridges have no trigger.

03

Log the event

When a gauge reaches a bridge threshold, the event time, observed flow, gauge, and association confidence are preserved for review.

Important

This map is a decision-support tool, not a substitute for owner procedures, engineering judgment, field conditions, or emergency management direction.

BridgeRiskIQ

Risk intelligence for the bridges that keep Oregon moving.

Built for Oregon bridge owners and inspection teams using owner-provided risk classifications, USGS real-time observations, and USGS StreamStats watershed data.
